13:40: got to see ray this week. the story itself was no surprise. i read about all the surprising details on ray charles's life when he died and someone put up a post in my local jazz mailing list. technically a good movie. that opening sequence was great, with all the ecu's. i like how they saturated colors for the flashback scenes. and of course, i enjoyed the music immensely. i am once again reminded of how much i miss having music in my life. live music, not just the stuff i like piped into my ears from headphones and my player.
i also got to see phantom of the opera with my friends. the movie was ... not bad. i wouldn't say it was good, either. the editing was pitifully simple. i think it was fair enough for a movie version of a musical, but it could have been better. or maybe i didn't like it because i just don't like the material. it has come to my attention that i really don't like andrew lloyd webber. i liked jcs. that's about it. the rest of his stuff just doesn't do it for me. but hey, that's me. and i can't deny it. yes, i was mouthing the words to the songs while watching.
another movie i saw this week was eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. i only saw it on dvd, but it doesn't matter. can't even find the words for that one. it was just plain good. it is now on my list of must-haves.
off to work in five hours. more 13-hour shifts. the other wave is thinking requesting a transfer to the new account. none of the stuff i hate there. hmmm.
