10:02: hey, guess what? white shirt guy can't make it on sunday.
... why do i even bother? this got me thinking a whole lot, but i shall not dwell on that anymore.
instead, i shall be watching with the cad. ah, well. friends are the next best thing.
hey, guess what? i still haven't seen the last star wars movie. but i did get to see the f1 monaco grand prix.
ah, yes, after the first six races of the season, finally an f1 post. how do i feel about the new rules? ...ambivalent. the new rules say you have to use the exact same set of tires for two consecutive races. you can only change a tire if you can no longer race with it, like if it's been punctured, shredded, gone to bits, etc. because of this, the more exciting drivers aren't driving as aggressively. they're all saving their tires and driving conservatively. a tad boring. but. i like that it mixes things up. the red bridgestone-using bastards are struggling to get the right tires. meantime, renault is doing great and so is toyota. my top two favorite drivers are in a great team with an excellent car and they're quickly catching up to renault. williams is getting stronger, too, and i can't wait until bar gets back in the game.
monaco is usually a boring circuit, but it's always fun to watch, if only to spot all sorts of people in the crowd. footballers, movie stars, models... they say half the cast of star wars was at monaco and george lucas was watching the race from red bull's pit wall. why? because red bull racing cosworth (formerly jaguar cosworth) had joined the force. i thought i was imagining things when i saw star wars logos on the cars. sadly, the team didn't do too well. coulthard came in for an early pit stop which eventually turned into a retirement, thanks to michael schumacher. concerned as i was for coulthard, all i could say was "OHMYGOD! OHMYGOD!! THAT IS SO COOL!!" because, dude!!! their pit crew was in storm trooper outfits!!!!! how kick-ass is that? i always thought that mclaren's crew looked very wickedly vader-ish in their black suits and helmets, but these guys beat that. the red bull crew wore white racing suits, tailored to look like a storm trooper uniform. they got the helmets right, too! drat. wish i had pictures to link.
hey, guess what? i haven't slept and i really should try and sleep now. enough f1. geekfest at glorietta later today!
