15:31: watched the midnight screening of goblet of fire with friends from work after our shift. heads up, movie review below. but for the sake of those who haven't seen it, i won't go into cinematic details and spoil it for you.
having been at work all day, i was surprised to find that i wasn't tired at all. i didn't feel the two and a half hours or so that passed during the movie (of course, the seemingly endless bag of yummy popcorn from the vegan place at gb3 helped). this fourth movie, i think, is the first potter movie that was targeted at fans of the book. by that, i mean it presupposes that you've read the book and understand the little details that weren't fully tackled in the movie. it wasn't as artsy as cuaron's azkaban, but it was similarly dark. nicely done. i did, however, miss john williams. the music didn't have as much character as before.
rupert grint, in my humble opinion, is filling out rather nicely. and i don't care if i'm the only one who thinks so, as every other girl is so enamored with daniel radcliffe. i love the long hair on rupert grint. he's the perfect picture of your average, everyday british "bloke", but with the long hair and the arms and shoulders, he looks almost like a soon-to-be-'70s-rock-demigod. the biggest disappointment in casting, really, is diggory. krum is arguably hotter than cedric diggory. brutish, yes, but not enough to be an unattractive brute. actually, quite a few of the durmstrang boys were hot. speaking of which, the entrance of durmstrang into hogwarts had the same effect on me as the beauxbatons did on the boys. it literally took my breath away. nice theatrics. okay, i'll shut up now. hehe. i just really had to mention the durmstrang thing.
potter fans who named this as their favorite book so far liked the movie a lot, in spite of it having been done by a relatively unknown director. overall, it was a damn good job.
