03:17: the benefit show didn't have much of an audience. disappointing, really. wev's pretty bummed out by it. pretty good music, though. there were a couple of bands that i hadn't heard of, but liked.
razorback played without tirso. if you're used to the 2-guitar set-up, then you'd have missed him, specially with manuel's style so different from both tirso and dave. but then he had this really sweet solo when they did ikot ng mundo (on an aside, manoy said goodbye to me before he left. *siiiigh* he's still so hot.) i know louie and brian well enough to expect good things from them, and they did not disappoint. oh, louie stripped the frets from his 6-string bass. very nice! the whole set was like an improv jam. and i have to admit, wev was damn good. i haven't heard him since the wolfgang tribute gig and i don't know what the hell he's done since then, but man, i was not expecting him to be that good. he frickin' kicked ass. i mean, they all did, but wev truly surprised me. i remember this one time, years back, when wev was really down because he heard that someone said he was holding the band back. whoever said that, i wish he had been there tonight.
isler, lex, frank and the other ryan (friends from my old job) were all there. it was a huge, very pleasant surprise. funny, too, coz i had just been thinking about isler a couple of days before. i wish my friends could have been there to watch. i think wev wants to do another gig, hopefully a more successful one. it's for family, after all, and a very wonderful one at that.
